Land Travel In Region 8

Land travel in Region 8 is different from any other regions in the Philippines. It requires going to one province to another by van (not the typical bus or jeepney ride travel). Well, there are a few buses plying the route but van travel is inevitable if you want to explore Region 8.

Region 8 is composed of the following provinces, namely: Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte and Southern Leyte.

The following are the travel time and fare for the routes mentioned. I forgot the travel time and fare for some of the routes (as of May 2013). I started my tour from Surigao Sity to cover Region 8.

Maasin to Ormoc City (vice-versa) - 1 hour and 45 mins. 

Ormoc City to Biliran (vice-versa) - 1 hour and 30 mins


Ormoc City to Tacloban (vice-versa) - 2 hours and 30 mins. (P120)

Biliran to Tacloban (vice-versa) - more than 2 hours 

Tacloban to Balanggiga (vice-versa) - 1 hour and 30 mins

Tacloban to Catbalogan  (vice-versa) - 2 hours and 20 mins (P120)

Tacloban to Borongan City (vice-versa) 2 hours and 55 minutes

Catbalogan to Calbayog (vice-versa) - 1 hour and 15 mins (P90)

Calbayog to Allen (vice-versa) - 1 hour and 30 mins (P90) (Last trip 6pm and only Grand Tours service the route))

Calbayog to Catarman (vice-versa) 1 hour
