Different Ways of Going to Boracay

Boracay is the number one tourist spot in the Philippines. And there are times when you have to choose on how to go to Boracay. I hope this will help you..

The fastest way is to go there by plane and the cheapest is by boat. Travel by plane is approximately 1.5 hours depending on whether you will land either at Kalibo or Caticlan. The direct flight to Caticlan is a lot better (but more expensive) than Kalibo. On the other hand, the trip by boat varies on whether you are going there via Ro-Ro or 2GO Travel.

By Ro-Ro, it will take you 13-15 hours from Manila. While 10 hours only if you will be using 2GO Travel from Manila.

The cheapest and the longest travel time is via Ro-Ro.

By Plane

via Air Asia
    from Clark to Kalibo

via Cebu Pacific (CebuPac)
    from Manila to Kalibo

via PAL Express (formerly Airphil)
    from Manila to Caticlan
    from Manila to Kalibo

via Philippine Airlines (PAL)
    from Cebu to Kalibo
    from Clark to Kalibo
    from Manila to Kalibo
from Manila to Caticlan (best option)

via Tiger Airways / Sea Air
    from Manila to Kalibo
    from Clark to Kalibo

via Zest Air

    from Manila to Kalibo

Note - If you will be booking the Kalibo flight, you still need to travel by land using a van/bus for 2 hours to Caticlan. Reaching Caticlan port, you will board a boat to Boracay.

By Land and Ship Travel (commuting)

1. From Manila, by boarding the Ceres bus from Cubao to Iloilo
The bus will go to Iloilo but it will pass Caticlan. The bus will twice board the Ro-Ro. First boarding is Batangas City to Calapan City, Mindoro. Second boarding is Roxas, Mindoro to Caticlan. Travel time is approximately 13-15 hours.

2. From Manila, by boarding a bus to Batangas pier. The bus terminal may either be from Cubao or in Buendia-LRT Taft. There are several buses plying the route such as DLTB, Starex Express, Jam, Alps and Ceres. It is better to board the bus which will use the Skyway and and the AC-Tex.

Reaching Batangas pier, there are two options -

     a. 2GO travel - from Batangas Pier to Caticlan (8 hours only)

     b. RO-Ro option - (using Starlite or Montenegro) from Batangas pier board the Ro-Ro to Calapan City - P192.00 (2.5 hours). Reaching Calapan port, ride a van/bus to Roxas - P250 (3-3.5 hours). In Roxas, Ro-Ro to Caticlan - P400 (4-5 hours). Reaching Caticlan, boat to Boracay - P25.00 (10-15 minutes).

Terminal fee in Caticlan - P100.00
Environmental fee - P75.00
Boat fee - P25.00

3. From Romblon
If you are in Romblon (Looc or Odiongan), 3 hours boat to Caticlan.

    1. PAL to Caticlan round trip fare is around P11,000. There are other airlines such as Cebu Pacific, Air Asia (Zest Air) and Sea Air. Better get the accommodation at Station 3, you can get as low as P500 for backpackers or P1,500 for a hotel. Enjoy!
