Five Days in Singapore

It was an early flight to Singapore.

I checked in Terminal 3 at around 3 am for my flight was slated 5:55 am.

I got this flight for only P2,100! Thanks to Cebu Pacific.

But the terminal fee of P550 and the travel tax of P1,650 were too much for me!

Anyway, I am traveling alone and excited to start with my 12-day tour of South East Asia. 

The flight was 3 hours and 20 minutes. And I arrived in Changi Airport ahead of the ETA and waited for my friend Maricel Gomez. Good thing my friend Marian Gomez asked her sister to fetch me in the airport. 

I met the two when I was in Cagayan De Oro two years ago and we were on the same boat when we did white river rafting! That was really fun and nerve-wracking!!

After the rafting, we ended up as close friends.

It was Maricel who taught me how to use the MRT in Singapore. Using the taxi is not an alternative when you are in SG. Probably, using the bus instead.

But I opted to use the MRT system of SG! 

This is one thing that you have to learn in SG.

And we boarded the train to my accommodation. It took us only less than 30 minutes before reaching my hostel -

Marian booked me for two (2) days but I made another booking for another two (2) days for my return trip from Malaysia.

The cost of the accommodation was 37 SGD for 6-pax sharing room. And my other booking was for 30 SGD for a 10-pax sharing room.

During my two days in Singapore, I shared the room with 3 Koreans, 1 American, and 1 Indian.

After returning from Malaysia, I shared the room with a Hungarian, German, and 2 Koreans.

It was a good experience for me sharing the room with different nationalities. I learned so much from them.

This is DIVERSITY!

In my five days of stay in Singapore. I visited and enjoyed the following places:

(You have to go here. There are so many Filipinos working here and it felt like you are in the Philippines.)

Chinatown

(for your souvenir shopping)

Little India

Bugis

(Again, for your affordable souvenir shopping)

Merlion and Marina Bay

(must-see!)

Sentosa Island and Universal Studios

Serangoon

And finally where I stayed in Singapore, Clarke Quay!

And if there if there are two things that I will definitely miss in Singapore; the first one is the use of the MRT and the second one is their street ice cream for only 1 SGD.

They do not scoop the ice cream here. They slice the ice cream!

Marina Bay and Clarke Quay, Singapore

There are two (2) places in Singapore that you should not miss when you are there. The first one is the Harbour Front (because of Sentosa Island and USS) and Marina Bay (because of Merlion, River Cruise and MBS).

And this is the Marina Bay and Clarke Quay!

From where I was staying (Clarke Quay), I boarded the MRT going to Marina Bay. From the station, I walked a bit to Marina Bay and roamed around the spot for one hour.

I saw a river cruise boat and got excited. I wanted to board the cruise badly that I immediately went to the docking area and made the necessary inquiry.

Good thing one of the staff in the River Cruise is a Filipino and he guided me on what to do.

He told me that the river cruise is worth 20 SGD but crossing the bay is only 3 SGD. And I decided to cross only and not to cruise the bay. I wanted to see the Merlion which was on the opposite side of the bay.

  

Arriving at the opposite side of the bay, I marveled at the view of the Marina Bay Sands (MBS). I was told by my friend Marian that I can go to the top of the MBS but I had to pay 20 SGD for the tour. "Hmmm.. I will do that next time I am in Singapore!", I told myself.

Then, I was mesmerized at the sight of the Merlion with the river cruise on the background! 

I stayed at the Merlion for at least an hour and waited for my friend Marian Gomez. Marina Bay was more fascinating at nightime. Good thing I stayed and witnessed the sunset at the Marina Bay. I love Singapore!

After taking our dinner, we strolled around and passed by Clarke Quay. Another site to behold at night with its famous nightlife adventures and bars!

It was my last day of stay in Singapore and I decided to make it special.

From Clarke Quay, I boarded an MRT to Harbor Front. In my four days of stay in Singapore, I was accustomed of using the MRT instead of using the bus or the taxi. And so I used the purple line to reach my destination.

Thanks to Marian Gomez, I have the MRT card for my disposal and Maricel Gomez for teaching me how to use the MRT.

At Harbor Front, I walked for 10 minutes before reaching my destination.

The Cable Car Ride to Sentosa.

There are 3 options in going to Sentosa from Harbor Front.

Option # 1 - by mono train
Option # 2 - by foot
Option # 3 - by cable car

And I chose the cable car ride for 26 SGD for a round trip ride.

The ride to Sentosa was good for 15 minutes only. 

Arriving at Sentosa, I immediately secured a map of the entire vicinity and studied the outlying areas.

I decided to go first to the Imbiah Lookout for my adventure.

First in the list is - The Luge

I paid 13 SGD for the 2 adventures, namely: The Luge and the Sky Ride.

The Luge was pretty much thrilling and exciting especially when you are mounting your quick turns on a downhill road.

It was really fun! =)

Next in the list was the Sky Ride!

Normally, pictures are not allowed to be taken while boarding the Sky Ride but I was able to convince the Singaporeans to take my picture while I was boarding it. =)

It was 10 minute ride back to the starting point of the Luge.

Due to lack of time, I tried my best to ride the Sky Tower. But I had to choose between Universal Studios and the Sky Tower. And I chose USS.

  

And I made the right choice after seeing the Universal Studios marker! I took the free bus ride until I reached the third stop of the bus ride and I alighted and walked towards USS.

The grandeur and the appeal of USS mesmerized me!

It was a mixed emotion for me. I've always seen this in TV shows and now I'm here.

It was a fantastic feeling! =)

After seeing the USS, I boarded the bus again to see the Siloso Beach.

It was already past 7 pm when I reached Siloso Beach and I strolled along the Siloso beach up to Palawan Beach. 

Then, I went to Songs of the Sea!

The water and fireworks display was really FASCINATING!!

Love it! I felt young again!

A thought came into my mind after seeing this. 

NOT today! With a broken shoulder, this adventure is definitely not for me.

Indoor Sky Diving

From that point, I took the mono train back to Imbiah Lookout, and from there boarded the cable car back to Harbor Front.

I went back to Clarke Quay that night with smiles written all over my face.

 I felt young, rejuvenated and most of all satisfied!
