Cape Santiago Lighthouse (Punta de Santiago Lighthouse in Calatagan, Batangas)

Normally, I do not feature or write about lighthouse in my blog.

I mean it is a lighthouse and it will remain to be one.

But after chatting with my previous student (Ms. Sheenah Tan) about the grandeur and the significance of lighthouses in the Philippines, I was a bit dumbfounded.

It caught me a bit. The notion of writing about lighthouses. Hmmm...

Yes! I have seen so many lighthouses in the Philippines.

The 3 lighthouses in Batanes, the Burgos lighthouse,  lighthouses in Visayas, and Mindanao. And after a while I thought of featuring this one, just this one.. or maybe the next one??

Maybe just this one! Well, this lighthouse is different. This one is from my province in Batangas and I had to simply write it in my blog!

Cape Santiago Lighthouse
or Punta de Santiago Lighthouse in Calatagan, Batangas.

From Manila, using public transport, it will take more than 3 hours to reach this tourist spot.

Good thing for me that day I was  riding my motorbike and from Tanauan City, it took me only 2 hours and a couple of minutes reaching the spot.

Travelling at the speed of 90-100 kilometers per hour, I was able to reach the jump-off point.

Traversing the narrow path towards the entrance of the lighthouse, I passed by this mini-forest along its rugged terrain.

I was beginning to enjoy the scenery!

Arriving at the place, I waited for the lighthouse to be opened to the public. There were plenty of tourists that day. Some decided not to wait and parted. I was beginning to lose hope and after 40 minutes, I decided to leave.

But good fortune was on my side that Sunday. The caretaker arrived just in the nick of time. He conveyed that he had to hear mass that day and that explained why the lighthouse was still closed.

And we were allowed to tour inside the lighthouse.

Admission is free but it is optional to give donation as part of the rehabilitation program of the lighthouse.

We were all eager to enter the lighthouse and the first thing that we did that day was to ascend and see the top of the lighthouse.

The view from the top of the lighthouse was simply magnificent and breathtaking!!! You can see the entire area of Calatagan, Batangas and the South China Sea!!

After staying at the top for 30 minutes, I decided to descend and see the surrounding areas of the lighthouse. I love the view!

I ended up that day with smiles written all over my face. I was HAPPY!

After the lighthouse, I decided to see some of the resorts in Calatagan, Batangas. But the memory of the lighthouse lingered while I was cruising in my bike and the aftershock of the experience lasted until I went home that day..

It's Really More Fun in Batangas!

    1. Honestly, am not sure. Naka motorcycle ako. Sorry. But one thing is certain, sa Calatagan you have to ride a tricycle to the site.

  12. Thanks for making me to gain new suggestions about computers. I also have belief that certain of the best ways to help keep your mobile computer in primary condition is by using a hard plastic material case, as well as shell, that matches over the top of one’s computer. Most of these protective gear tend to be model unique since they are made to fit perfectly in the natural covering. You can buy them directly from owner, or via third party sources if they are available for your notebook computer, however its not all laptop can have a spend on the market. Once more, thanks for your guidelines. herbsenroute
