Smart Backpacker: The Thrill of the Rapids in Pagsanjan and the Grandeur of Pagsanjan Falls

It was a long weekend. The typical three-day weekend starting from Saturday and ending on a Monday. And after the might of Habagat was felt for one week in Metro Manila and the nearby provinces, there was a long series of suspension of classes in Metro Manila.

So I planned a three-day tour. The first day of the tour was scheduled in Pagsanjan Falls.

The following day we went to Pagsanjan Falls.

The town of Pagsanjan is just 2-3 hours from Tanauan City, Batangas. Whenever I travel to Laguna, Batangas or Cavite, I usually use my motorcycle because it is fast, free from traffic and economical.

My friend “Mek” was my companion that day. We scheduled also as a photoshoot and so we brought our respective DSLRs and tripods.

We were passing the towns of Pagsanjan at an average speed of 80-90 kilometers per hour. First stop was the Underground Cemetery in Nagcarlan and we stopped there to shoot and then, we sped off to our destination.

Reaching our stop, we hired the boat ride to Pagsanjan Falls. The cost of the boat ride was PhP2,500 or PhP1,250 per person. The boat was good only for 4 persons. The third and fourth persons were the paddlers.

We boarded the boat and the adventure began.

Hoooray!!!! I was enjoying!!

But my friend “Mek” at first was a bit scared for the moment but later on he was also shouting and enjoying. We were a bit careful not to tilt to much because there was this scenario that the boat may capsize at any point in time (but it never happened).

The boat ride going to Pagsanjan Falls was good for an hour and a half. Upon reaching the place, we stayed there for one hour. I even tried entering the interior of the falls and I was fascinated!

The boat ride back to the jump-off point was faster than we expected. After Pagsanjan falls, we went to see Caliraya Lake and did a bit of photoshoot. Then, we went back to Tanauan City.

Both of us enjoyed the motor ride, boat ride and the photoshoot! It’s really fun in Laguna!
